this and that

I don't have really anything exciting to blog about...sorry about that. We are just enjoying the time we have together as a family.

Today Chase is at his last day of sensory camp - I have not been doing as much driving as when the kids are in school, but nonetheless I've been driving. Here's what I've been listening too lately: The Best of John Denver, The Best of James Taylor, the Best of Randy Travis, Wicked Original Broadway Cast Recording, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat broadway cast. I am getting old huh. I know what you're thinking...."john denver???" but I encourage you to give it a try. :)

Since everyone will be home, my hope is to spend next week doing some simple activities with the kids that do not involve electronics. Way too much computer, Wii, GameCube, Nintendo DS, television time going on around here! I think we'll build a tent in the living room with blankets, play with clay, bake cookies, go swimming, play a game of Monopoly, maybe go to the cheap movie... It will be our last week of summer together since I have young womens camp their last week of summer. I suppose I should get some back to school shopping done next week with them also!

The last couple weeks I've been sorting through things. Our neighborhood had a community yard sale last Saturday so we got rid of a good portion of it, the rest is headed to Goodwill. Summertime is a good time to cleanse and organize. I'm getting ready (although sad too!) that all our kids will be in school in just a few weeks, although Ryan will only be gone to kindergarten in the afternoons. I am counting on getting a lot done. Currently I am attempting to organize my craft closet -ugh! It is time consuming going through it all.

I took the boys to see Kung Fu Panda. Yes, I liked it but no, it was not like I liked it a lot. I'm a girl, I loved Enchanted. But back to the boys, they loved Kung Fu Panda! It was the very first movie I took them too that all three little boys sat through the entire thing. We never once had to go out to the foyer so yes, I guess they really liked it.

We are getting excited for a visit from my sister Cindy and her family. Our boys are excited to play with their cousins, Brett and Brock. Although they are coming the week our kids go back to school it will be so nice to see them. We're just hoping the heat doesn't do them in. Regardless we will have fun showing them around Tucson. We hope to take them to Trail Dust Town, Kartchner Caverns, get them an Egee, maybe go bowling or roller skating, swimming, visit Mt. Lemmon - it should be fun. Any recommendations on what else is a must see?

Oh Cori! I love John Denver! Everytime I hear any song of his I go right back to being a kid...that has nothing to do with getting old! My absolute favorite song of his is Looking for Space, though I can hardly listen to it without tearing up.

Cori, So I posted my "new music" a few days ago- and pretty much I love all the music you listed- especially Wicked and I am dying to see it- as I have the soundtrack memorized. I love John Denver too. Sounds like you are having a fun time w/ the kids- or have some fun stuff planned- too bad your summer is so short- oh wait- it is so hot here-even when the kids are in school it is still summer. ON another note- I am having a tough time w/ my kiddies and no daddy- in a way I want them to be older like your kids....but it does go fast- I'm trying not to rush it. Have fun w/ your sister- so sorry this did not mean to be so long ;) oh well. love ya

Sunshine...On my shoulders, makes me happy! I love John Denver! He's so mellow and the only thing better than him is Dan Fogelberg! Sounds like you will have a great time with the kids this coming week and have fun with your sister! Didn't you just love the weather today! It was so nice and cool and breezy!

Hey guys:
Angela, I'm so glad you are a fellow John Denver fan! fun!
Sharla, hang in there with the boys and your husband being gone. You are doing a fantastic job as a mom! I, too, am dying to see Wicked! Someday...
Erin and Jo-Anne, I will really need to add Dan Fogelberg and the Carpenters to my listening. I hate to say I'm not familiar with their music - the names yes, but can't name a song, but I think I would like it!I do LOVE Neil Diamond and of course, Barry Manilow and also have some of their albums. :)
